Good News for Huskers at Linebacker Ahead of Michigan Game

Luke Reimer should be ready; quarterbacks Heinrich Haarberg and Jeff Sims both might play

Linebacker Luke Reimer should be ready to play, defensive end Cam Lenhardt is still questionable, and quarterback Jeff Sims remains less than 100% but might play.

Those were the key injury updates Thursday from Nebraska head football coach Matt Rhule, who met with reporters for the final time before the Huskers' home game Saturday against second-ranked Michigan.

Reimer did not finish last week's game against Louisiana Tech, and Lenhardt didn't suit up after injuring an ankle the week before against Northern Illinois. Sims injured an ankle Sept. 9 at Colorado and has played just one snap since. Sims' replacement the last two weeks, Heinrich Haarberg, did not finish the Louisiana Tech game after he "felt something tighten up," as Rhule described it after the game.

Both Sims and Haarberg have practiced all week.

"Heinrich has looked good," Rhule said. "How much can he completely open up and all those things? I don't think we'll completely know 'til game time, but there's been no restrictions on him."

Rhule said Sims "looks good in terms of moving and sliding in the pocket," but "I wouldn't say Jeff's 100%." Even so, he said, "We'll be ready to probably use either one of them or both of them as needed."
