Fans Are What Make Nebraska Special to 2025 Athlete Ike Ackerman

In-state defensive end/tight end recaps recent visit to Lincoln

The Nebraska Cornhuskers last week were the host of a talented 2025 in-state prospect.

Ike Ackerman is a defensive end and tight end at Central High School in Omaha, Nebraska. He measures in at around 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds according to Rivals and had plenty of great things to say about his in-state program.

“It was super nice seeing a live scrimmage especially seeing offense vs defense,” Ackerman stated to HuskerMax. “I like that because I can see how the defense is building the chemistry. The coaches were super nice as always, and practice had a lot of competition, which I liked.”

A couple of coaches really stood out to Ackerman.

“I really liked Coach E.J. (Barthel) and Mr. (Keith) Williams. Coach E.J. came up and we talked for a bit. I really like coach Tony White too, he’s a perfectionist and he wants the best for all of the players, even the offense.”

A certain person stuck out to Ackerman.

“Well Polar Bear (defensive lineman Nash Hutmacher) sticks out to me the most because of his competitiveness, I love everything about competition so it’s hard to not have him as a favorite. Coach Knighton pulls the group together as a family and pushes them, after the scrimmage I was on Saturday, they ran some together, which they don't have to do. and Coach Knighton had his kids there watching, which shows a lot of what he stands for.”

He does plan to be in Lincoln again soon and has great expectations for that visit.

“I plan to be down for the spring game. I’m expecting super loud and good energy from the craziest fans in the country and guys flying around making plays.”

He believes a group of people makes Nebraska unique: the fans.

“Definitely the fans and their approach to recruiting, they’re really good about building personal connections to recruits, and their facilities, simply just hard to match. I think Nebraska holds the best fans in the country, every time I put something out on X that’s about Nebraska, it goes crazy with Nebraska fans, and having a good fan base that sticks behind a team means a ton.”

“The fan base plays a huge factor in recruitment because the fans can help make a place feel like home, and at the end of the day people commit to where they feel is home, The message to the fan base is to keep being great, it doesn’t go unnoticed!”
