The Nebraska Cornhuskers announced their captains for the upcoming 2024 softball season on Wednesday afternoon.

Senior Abbie Squier, senior Billie Andrews, senior Kaylin Kinney, and junior Mckinley Malecha will wear the "C" on the jerseys this season.

Squier was a captain last season and is taking a medical redshirt this season to recover from off-season surgeries.

Andrews is a two-time First Team All-Big Ten honoree and was named an NFCA Third Team All-American last season. She is sixth in program history in career home runs with 43 and ninth in extra-base hits with 70.

Last season ended early for Kinney due to a hand injury. Before the injury, she was a force in the circle. She started three games and appeared in seven. She had a record of 1-1 with an earned run average of 0.84. She only allowed one walk and three runs before her injury.

Malecha has appeared in eight games during her first two seasons in Lincoln. She started two games last season. She has yet to record her first collegiate hit.

The Huskers begin their season Feb. 8 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, against Washington.
