Nebraska Softball: Preseason Bracketology Predictions
Nebraska is one day away from the start of the 2024 season and the softball insiders have released their first set of bracketology predictions.
Could this be the year the Huskers host a regional for the first time since 2013? That season ended with an appearance in the Women's College World Series.
According to Softball America's Brady Vernon, Nebraska will get the last host spot with the No. 16 seed over a No. 17 seed Oklahoma State. The Cowgirls would travel to Lincoln along with Missouri and Northern Iowa.
Sending OSU to Lincoln flips the script from the past two seasons that sent the Huskers to Stillwater.
However, with a No. 16 overall seeding, the Huskers would be matched up with the No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners for the Super Regional and a bid for the WCWS.
D1 Softball's Eric Lopez told All Huskers in a text message that the Huskers should win the Big Ten. Mixed with a strong schedule and the star power of Jordy Bahl, the Huskers should be a top-16 seed.
The Huskers' schedule is a grind and begins Thursday against No. 7 Washington followed by No. 11 Duke. Those two games are the biggest of the weekend and will give the Huskers early tests that could show a glimpse of what the rest of the season has in store.
