The Huskers are ranked inside the preseason top 25 for the first time in years

For the first time since 2015, the Nebraska softball program is ranked in the NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association) preseason Top 25.

The Huskers came in at No. 18 on Tuesday after the ESPN.com/USA Softball, Softball America, and D1 Softball polls ranked the Huskers at No. 17, No. 15, and No. 13.

In addition to the preseason rankings, a trio of Huskers received individual recognition. Senior Billie Andrews, junior Jordy Bahl, and sophomore Katelyn Caneda have each been ranked at their respective positions.

Billie Andrews, Sr., Shortstop

  • No. 42 Overall Player in the Country (D1Softball)
  • No. 56 Overall Player in the Country (Softball America)
  • No. 5 Shortstop in the Country (D1Softball)
  • No. 6 Shortstop in the Country (Softball America)

Jordy Bahl, Jr., Pitcher/Utility

  • No. 2 Overall Player in the Country (D1Softball & Softball America)
  • No. 2 Pitcher in the Country (D1Softball & Softball America)
  • Preseason First-Team All-American (Softball America)
  • USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Watch List

Katelyn Caneda, Soph., Second Base

  • No. 9 Second Baseman in the Country (D1Softball)

Fans will have an opportunity to meet all three student-athletes and the rest of the team at the first annual Softball Fan Day on Saturday, Feb. 3, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. inside the Hawks Championship Center, located immediately northeast of Memorial Stadium. Fan Day admission is free and parking will be in Lot 8.
