QB Jasper Stratton

Height: 6'0" Weight: 180 lbs

Hometown: Los Angeles, CA

High school: Windward School

Evaluation: Jasper Stratton, the freshmen quarterback out of Los Angeles, comes to Northwestern with a unique background. Stratton played eight-man football in high school, as opposed to the regular 11 on 11 game. Stratton was going to transfer to Fairfax High School for his senior season to play 11-man football, but COVID-19 derailed those plans. While technically listed as a quarterback on the Northwestern Roster, Stratton will be looked at and used as more of an 'athlete' with an undefined role.

Stratton played quarterback, wide receiver and defensive back for Windward School. Running an unofficial 4.6 40, speed won't be a concern for Coach Fitzgerald and his staff when deciding where Stratton fits best. During his junior season, Stratton was responsible for 4,000-plus all purpose yards and 43 touchdowns.

Stratton has the athleticism, skill and smarts to play all over the field. Not only is Stratton bringing his Swiss army knife skillset to Evanston, but he is also bringing his 4.1 GPA with him. Stratton will be looking to handle everything Coach Fitzgerald throws at him in his first year as a Wildcat.

Projected Playing Time: Coming in as a preferred walk-on always presents it's challenges to finding a path towards playing time. Chances are Stratton will redshirt this upcoming season. This will give him time to put on more muscle and for the coaches to to figure out the best way to use him in the future. However, Stratton can still have an impact on this season, as he can provide realistic looks and reps as a scout team quarterback for the starting defense. The skills and smarts of Stratton makes him an intriguing player to keep an eye on in the future.
