Evaluation: The first thing that pops out when watching Garner Wallace's game tape is his size. Wallace stands at six feet and four inches tall, weighing 190 pounds. He is an absolute force at the safety position. Wallace has the size and athleticism to play down in the box, on the line, and deep in center field roaming the back end of the defense. Wallace's big frame gives him the versatilely to line up just about anywhere. Factoring in his speed along with his size, Wallace will give the Wildcat's defense exceptional range on the back end, helping him make plays from sideline to sideline.

Another strength to Wallace's game is his hands. Having played wide receiver in high school as well, Wallace knows how to catch a football. It can be frustrating at times for fans to watch defensive backs and linebacker have balls go through their hands for easy interceptions, but that won't be a problem for Wallace. He is an absolute ballhawk. Think Ed Reed in Kam Chancellor's body (no, I am not comparing Wallace to those two, but their skill sets and size are very similar).

Projected Playing Time: It can be argued that the strength of Northwestern's team last year was their secondary. However, with the loss of three starters, this year's group will look vastly different. Yet, the good news is that All-American Brandon Joseph returns to lead this year's secondary, along with a handful of upperclassmen. This will make it hard for Wallace to see any playing time this year, with redshirting being the most likely outcome. Wallace can make the most out of this year by learning from one of the nation's top defensive backs and safeties in Joseph and soaking up all the information he'll provide. Look for Wallace to play a key role in the future of the Wildcat's defense.
