Evan Smith, a highly coveted offensive prospect, has chosen a path for his football career. The 5'9", 167-pound Oak Mountain (Birmingham, Ala.) rising-senior announced on Twitter Saturday afternoon that he will be taking his talents to Evanston. 

Smith ran for 1,719 yards on 171 carries and was 44 of 103 passing for 620 yards and six scores his junior year. Smith led Oak Mountain to a 7-5 record and helped the Eagles record their best season start (4-0) in program history. To wrap up the 2020 season, Smith was named to the Class 7A All-State second-team.

Not only is Smith a star on the gridiron, but also led the Eagles' state champion basketball team as the starting point guard. Smith averaged 8.2 points and four assists per game with 50 steals on the season his junior year.

Smith received more than a dozen offers, including Northwestern, Navy, Army, Duke, and more. The athlete is capable of playing at several positions, including quarterback (his position at Oak Mountain), wide receiver, and cornerback. However, as of now, the Wildcats's have him lined up to be at cornerback.
