While most people will be spending their Sunday honoring the Fourth of July holiday with fireworks and cookouts galore, athletic quarterback prospect Conner Harrell will be celebrating a different event: his commitment decision.

Harrell, a 6’1”, 190-pound three-star recruit from Alabaster, AL, led Thompson High School to its second straight state championship victory, throwing for 3516 passing yards and 42 TDs throughout the 2020 season. Harrell tallied a 73% completion percentage, completing 226 of 309 passes with only 3 interceptions, while also running for 319 rushing yards with 6 scores.

According to AL.com, Harrell was named the Class 7A Back of the Year by the Alabama Sports Writers’ Association–an honor also received by former Thompson QBs Taulia Tagovailoa and Sawyer Pate–as well as the Gatorade Alabama Football Player of the Year.

As the No. 3 ranked quarterback in Alabama, behind Oregon and Louisville commits, Harrell is also a finalist for Gatorade National Player of the Year.

As an agile, athletic dual-threat quarterback, Harrell led Thompson to a championship in his first year as an everyday starter while running an offense that was considerably reliant on quarterback reads. With good speed and good length, he is able to dodge pursuing defenders with ease and avoid trouble, while also having a strong arm capable of consistent long passes with pinpoint accuracy.

Harrell has already announced his Top Ten schools: Arizona State, Duke, Indiana, Liberty, Louisiana, Nebraska, Northwestern, TCU, Vanderbilt and West Virginia. However, his decision will become final tomorrow when he announces his commitment on Twitter.
