Notre Dame Basketball Lands Seton Hall Transfer Forward Tae Davis

The former Seton Hall forward played in 32 games as a true freshman last season

Notre Dame men’s basketball has picked up another commitment from the transfer portal. Seton Hall Freshman Tae Davis announced his commitment to the Fighting Irish on social media Thursday afternoon.

Davis, a 6-9 forward who is originally from Indianapolis, just completed his freshman season with Shaheen Holloway at Seton Hall. He played in 32 of the Pirates’ 34 games during the 2022-2023 campaign. He averaged 2.8 points and 2.8 rebounds in 13.4 minutes per game.

The Warren Central High School product became the first Seton Hall freshman since 2006 to score in double figures in a season opener when he registered 11 points in SHU’s opener against Monmouth. Davis scored in double figures two other times last season.

The former three-star small forward was ranked as the No. 8 player in the state of Indiana coming out of high school. He was the No. 139 player overall per 247.

Davis joins former Penn State 6-10 forward Kebba Njie and Northwestern guard Julian Roper II as the third player to join the Notre Dame roster via the transfer portal since Shrewsberry took over in March.

Shrewsberry has also signed three incoming freshman in that time. Guards Braeden Shrewsberry and Logan Imes join 6-10 forward Carey Booth in the trio of players who were not previously recruited by the Irish who will be on Shrewsberry’s first team. Indiana Mr. Basketball Markus Burton committed last year and is part of the incoming freshman class as well.

The seven newcomers join returnees Matt Zona, JR Konieczny and Tony Sanders Jr to give the Fighting Irish 10 scholarship players on the roster.
