Defensive Tackle Sean Sevillano Jr. Commits To Notre Dame

Notre Dame has landed a commitment from Florida defensive tackle Sean Sevillano Jr.

Notre Dame stayed hot on the recruiting trail by picking up a commitment from Clearwater (Fla.) Academy International defensive tackle Sean Sevillano Jr. The Irish beat out Ohio State, Miami (Fla.) and Auburn to land the 6-2, 300-pound nose tackle.

Notre Dame first got involved Sevillano back in March, which is when they offered him a scholarship. The Canadian native visited Notre Dame just two weeks later. Notre Dame had ground to make up with Sevillano at the time, but over the next month that's exactly what they did. Once an Ohio State lean, Sevillano is now a Notre Dame commit.

The back story on this recruitment is interesting, and it shook up the defensive line class. Sevillano is a big reason why Notre Dame decided to move on from long time commit Owen Wafle. As much as the staff liked Wafle, it appears they wanted to land more of a pure nose, and Sevillano is certainly that kind of prospect.

Listed anywhere from 300 to 325 pounds, Sevillano's game is all about being big and physical. He's an incredibly strong young football player, and this is true in the weight room and on the field. He's the ideal fit for the nose position and he brings a skillset Notre Dame seems to want more of in the middle.

Sevillano is a consensus three-star recruit, but his offer list is more impressive than that. Sevillano had offers from Notre Dame, Ohio State, Miami (Fla.), Auburn, Wisconsin, Stanford, Louisville, Cincinnati, Maryland, Iowa State, Illinois, West Virginia, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Kansas and Duke.

He joins a defensive line class that also has defensive ends Cole Mullins, Loghan Thomas and Bryce Young.
