Houston Texans Draft Offensive Lineman Jarrett Patterson

The Houston Texans have drafted former Notre Dame offensive lineman Jarrett Patterson

The Houston Texans have drafted former Notre Dame offensive lineman and two-time captain Jarrett Patterson.

Patterson was a four-year starter for Notre Dame after stepping into the lineup in 2019 as the starting center. He spent the next three seasons (2019-21) as the team's anchor up the middle. Patterson missed much of this past offseason, and during that time the decision was made that the California native would move to left guard.

For his career, Patterson started 46 career games, with 34 coming at center and 12 coming at guard. Patterson finished his career with 49 games played.

Patterson earned second-team All-American honors from the American Football Coaches Association following the 2022 season, and he was named Notre Dame's top offensive lineman by his teammates. He earned third-team All-American honors from Phil Steele after the 2021 campaign and Honorable Mention All-American honors from Phil Steele after the 2020 season. Patterson was named a third-team All-ACC member after the 2020 season despite missing the final four games of the season.

Patterson was a two-time team captain for the Fighting Irish and was willing to move positions three times during his career after he began his career at left tackle.

The former Notre Dame blocker was a Senior Bowl selection.

Patterson is the first former Notre Dame player to be picked by the Texans since Will Fuller was selected in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft. That year the Texans also picked offensive lineman Nick Martin.
