What to Know - Notre Dame: Notre Dame hits the road for the first time this season and takes a 28-game regular season winning streak against ACC competition into Saturday’s game. Four of those wins came last year under now second-year head coach Marcus Freeman. This is just the second time the Fighting Irish have ever played at NC State’s Carter-Finley Stadium. Irish quarterback Sam Hartman is off to a hot start to the season with six touchdown passes while completing 82% of his passes through Notre Dame’s first two games. Meanwhile, Notre Dame’s running game is averaging 206 yards per game. The Irish defense is yielding just 107 rushing yards and 3.0 points per game. Opposing quarterbacks have completed just under 38% of their passes with two interceptions.
What to Know – North Carolina State: The Wolfpack is led by 11th year head coach Dave Doeren, who has a 73-54 record with six eight-win seasons in his tenure. NC State’s offense is led by former Virginia quarterback Brennan Armstrong. The sixth-year signal caller is reunited with offensive coordinator Robert Anae this year. Armstrong passed 4,449 yards, ran for 251 and had 40 total touchdowns when he played for Anae at UVA in 2021. He had just seven touchdowns and 12 interceptions last season when Anae was at Syracuse. Armstrong ran for 96 yards and two touchdowns in NC State’s 24-14 season-opening win over UConn. The Wolfpack 3-3-5 defense ranked 11th and 23rd in the nation in rush defense the last two seasons. NC State is 18-2 at home over the last three seasons. The losses were to Boston College last year and to Miami two years ago.
