What to Know - Notre Dame: The Fighting Irish are at the end of a stretch of four straight prime time games against four straight ranked and unbeaten opponents. This will mark the first time in program history that Notre Dame has played four consecutive night games. It is also the first time since 2000 that the Irish have played against four ranked opponents in a row. Saturday’s game marks the 94th all-time meeting between the Irish and the Trojans, with Notre Dame holding a 59-38-5 advantage in the previous 93 meetings. That includes four straight home wins over their rivals. Notre Dame’s defense ranks No. 3 in the nation in passing efficiency, No. 12 in total defense and No. 15 in scoring defense (15.9 ppg).
What to Know – Southern Cal: Reigning Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams leads the No. 1 scoring offense in the nation (51.8 ppg) into Saturday’s game. Williams is one of three Pac-12 quarterbacks who rank in the top-10 nationally in passing yards (No. 9, 1,822 yds). His 22 passing touchdowns are No. 1 as is his pass efficiency ranking. He is also No. 9, averaging 15.3 yards per completion. As good as Williams and the USC offense are, the Trojan defense is at the other end of the national spectrum. Southern Cal has the No. 76 scoring defense (27.0 ppg), No. 89 pass efficiency defense, No. 90 rushing defense (157.0 yds/gm), and No. 108 total defense (421.3 yds/gm). They do, however, rank No. 3 with 22.0 sacks and No. 1 with 57.0 tackles for loss through six games.
