FILM ANALYSIS

Sevillano has the beef that Notre Dame wants and needs more of. He's on the shorter side and he doesn't seem to have great length, but his length is good enough for it not to be a liability. He's not just big, he's also incredibly strong. His weight room numbers are outstanding for such a young player, and he shows it on the field. His technique and hand play needs a lot of work, but he has the raw power and girth to eventually be a stout player up the middle of a college defense.

Notre Dame isn't bringing in Sevillano to be a heavy pass rusher, but his production as a junior shows he can be a playmaker. Sevillano shows a good vertical burst, and he closes well on the football, which helped fuel his monster numbers that included 40 tackles for loss and 19 sacks.

Sevillano shows good vertical burst off the line, which allows him to be disruptive up the middle. He tends to play very high, especially for a shorter player, so that's something he'll need to work on. He's able to bully high school players, but if he plays that high at the next level he'll have a tougher time holding the point. This is a technical issue that can be corrected, and as Sevillano starts to play with better leverage/pad level he'll be even more dominant at the point of attack.

NOTRE DAME FIT

There is no doubt the position that Sevillano fits in the Notre Dame defense. Interior players for the Irish have to be able to do a little bit of everything, meaning playing over the center and over the guards, but the nose in the Irish defense is primarily an over the center player. Notre Dame wants and needs players that add more beef, and ideally a player that can not only two-gap, but can also penetrate. Sevillano has the beef that Notre Dame wants and needs more of.
