Audric Estime, Joe Alt and Howard Cross Earn Midseason All-American Honors

Notre Dame stars Audric Estime, Joe Alt and Howard Cross earned midseason All-American honors from ESPN

ESPN released its midseason All-American honors and three Notre Dame players made the first team squad. Running back Audric Estime, offensive tackle Joe Alt and defensive tackle Howard Cross III all earned All-American honors.

Estime currently ranks fourth in the nation in rushing with 787 yards and ranks sixth in the nation with nine rushing touchdowns.

"Even though he's a bigger back (227 pounds), Estime is tied for sixth among Power 5 players with eight runs of 20 yards or longer. He has rushed for more than 80 yards in six of his eight games, gaining 6.2 yards per rush and scoring nine touchdowns. And when the Irish need the tough yards, Estime has delivered. He leads all Power 5 backs with 532 yards after contact." - Chris Low, ESPN

Cross has 45 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and a sack on the season. He's been one of several dominant defensive players for the Irish this season.

"Cross is making the most of his first full season as a starter. He leads Notre Dame in total tackles (42) and tackles for loss (five), and has forced two fumbles. His 26 pressures rank second among all interior defenders, while his 21 run stops on defense are tied for second, according to Pro Football Focus. Cross had a career-high 13 tackles in the Irish's win over Duke." - Low, ESPN

Alt was named a second team All-American player on the ESPN list. He earned first team honors - along with Estime - on the CBS Sports Midseason All-American team.

Although Notre Dame is now eight games into the season, most of college football has played just six games, which is why this list is coming out deeper into the Notre Dame season.
