Notre Dame Bowl Projections See A Major Shift After Loss

The Irish are no longer considered a contender for a New Year's Six bowl
Matt Cashore, USA TODAY Sports

Notre Dame went into the weekend projected to participate in a New Year's Six bowl game, and with an outside shot at the College Football Playoff. After its 45-14 loss to Michigan the Irish are no longer projected to participate in either.

ESPN and Stadium College Football Insider Brett McMurphy all project Notre Dame to take on Kansas State in the Camping World Bowl in Orlando, Fla. The game is played on December 28.

The Camping World Bowl has gone by different names in the past. It was most recently the Russell Athletic Bowl, and before that it was the Champs Sports Bowl.

Notre Dame played Florida State in the Champs Sports Bowl at the conclusion of the 2011 season, losing 18-14.

Kansas State is coming off a 48-41 win over Oklahoma. The Wildcats are 5-2 and ranked No. 22 in the AP Poll and No. 25 in the Coaches Poll.
