Here are some notes from the Irish depth chart:

*** The starting lineups are what were expected based on how fall camp went for Notre Dame.

*** Senior Chris Tyree will make his first start at wide receiver for the Irish after making the transition from running back in the spring. Sophomore Tobias Merriweather will be making his first career start, as will left guard Pat Coogan and right guard Rocco Spindler.

*** Notre Dame listed every scholarship running back on the depth chart as the "or" for the No. 3 running back spot behind starter Audric Estime and backup Gi'Bran Payne.

*** Notre Dame has three true sophomores (redshirt freshmen) in the two-deep along the offensive line. Four of the five starters in the offensive line are members of the 2021 recruiting class.

*** Ohio State transfer Javontae Jean-Baptiste was listed first at field end, but expect him and fifth-year senior NaNa Osafo-Mensah will both play a lot at the position. Sophomore Josh Burnham was listed as a backup at both end spots.

*** Freshman linebackers Drayk Bowen and Jaiden Ausberry were both listed in the two-deep at the inside linebacker spots. Freshman cornerback Christian Gray was also listed as the No. 2 cornerback behind Benjamin Morrison. That makes three true freshman in the two-deep on defense.

*** Transfer Spencer Shrader is listed first as both the placekicker and kick off specialist. Sophomore punter Bryce McFerson also won the punting job. That means Notre Dame will have a new punter, place kicker, kick off specialist and holder (Dylan Devezin).
