Notre Dame plunged 11 spots to No. 21 in this week’s AP College Football Poll. The Fighting Irish (5-2) lost for the second time this season in Saturday night’s 33-20 defeat at Louisville. The Cardinals (6-0) vaulted 11 spots to No. 14 with the with the over the Irish after joining the top 25 for the first time this season last week.

The top two spots in the poll remain the same, with No. 1 Georgia garnering 50 first place votes and No. 2 Michigan grabbing 11 first place votes. Ohio State and Florida State each bumped up to No. 4 and 5, respectively, and each received one first place vote this week.

Oklahoma jumped up seven spots to No. 5 after handing Texas its first loss of the season. The Longhorns dropped six spots to No. 9 with the loss. Penn State, Washington and Oregon sit in spots 7-8. Southern Cal slipped one spot to No. 10 after a triple overtime win over Arizona late Saturday night.

The Trojans are this week’s Notre Dame opponent. They are the only remaining currently ranked team on the Fighting Irish schedule. Duke, who Notre Dame beat a week ago, is up two spots to No. 17 this week.

Missouri and Fresno State each fell out of this week’s poll after suffering their first losses this weekend. Miami fell eight spots after a loss to Georgia Tech, but managed to stay in the poll at No. 25. UCLA rejoined the poll at No. 18 after handing Washington State its first loss. Kansas also rejoined the poll at No. 23 after beating UCF 51-22.
