ESPN released its preseason All-America squad and Notre Dame left tackle Joe Alt was named to the list. It's the latest in first-team All-American honors for Alt, who is considered arguably the best returning offensive lineman in college football.

Alt earned first-team All-America honors from ESPN following the 2022 season, so it's no surprise he made the outlets preseason list.

"The 6-8, 322-pound Alt is a repeat selection after making ESPN's 2022 All-America team as a sophomore. He's everything you look for in a left tackle and certainly has the bloodlines. His father, John Alt, is a Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Famer, and the younger Alt is on track to have a long career in the pros himself. A tight end in high school, Alt didn't allow a sack last season and is equally dominant in the run game. Transfer quarterback Sam Hartman couldn't ask for a better protector of his blind side." - Chris Low, ESPN

The Minnesota native earned Freshman All-American honors in 2021 and last season earned first team All-American honors from the Associated Press, Pro Football Focus, CBS Sports, ESPN, and second-team honors from Sporting News, Football Writers Association of America, AFCA, USA Today and The Athletic.

Alt has also been named to the Watch List for the Walter Camp Award and the Outland Trophy. The Walter Camp Award goes annually to the nation's best player, regardless of position.

Five Notre Dame opponents also earned a spot on the ESPN squad. USC quarterback Caleb Williams tops the list. Also on the list are Ohio State wide receivers Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka, Clemson linebacker Barrett Carter and Stanford placekicker Joshua Karty.
