NOTRE DAME FIT

The combination of length, power and athleticism are traits that make his projection to the field end position easy to make. Young filled out nicely as a senior, which made the fit even easier. As his pass rush repertoire improves he should develop a strong all-around skillset for the position. It's not completely out of the question that Young even outgrows the edge and ends up inside, but right now I really like the field end projection, and it was a big need for the Notre Dame 2024 class.

BREAKING DOWN YOUNG

Bryan Driskell, Owner: "Young blew up faster than expected, both physically and his game. He was always a toolsy player you hoped would fill out and pan out, but as a senior he became a legit big time player. Young has everything you want in a big time edge player. He's exceptionally long, there is still plenty of room to grow into his frame, he is explosive out of his stance, his closing speed stands out and he was highly, highly productive as a senior. Young was absolutely dominant as a senior, and he looked nothing like the player he was the previous season. His hand play also took a big jump, and when you combine that with his explosive burst and length it made him unblockable at the prep level in both the run game and pass game."

Ryan Roberts, Recruiting Director: "A huge riser as a senior, there may not be a 2024 Notre Dame commit with a higher ceiling than Young. Long, powerful, and explosive, he is almost impossible to block in a one-on-one situation. Young has a body type where he could potentially become a mismatch weapon from multiple alignments. As he continues to develop, there truly isn't a ceiling for how good Young can be."
