Notre Dame continued moving up the rankings, bumping up to No. 8 in both the Associated Press Poll and Amway Coaches Poll after beating USC on Saturday night.

The Irish were No. 9 in last week’s AP Poll but jumped both Florida and Georgia. The Irish were leaped by Penn State, who went from No. 10 to No. 7 after beating Iowa 17-12. Georgia lost to unranked South Carolina (23-20) and Florida lost at No. 2 LSU (42-28).

Notre Dame went up two spots in the Coaches Poll after checking in at No. 10 last week. The Irish jumped Georgia and Florida.

Notre Dame began the season ranked No. 9 in both polls, so the Irish head into their bye week ranked higher than they were when the season started.

LSU’s win over Florida resulted in the Tigers leaping Clemson, who fell to No. 3 in the latest AP Poll. Clemson remains No. 2 in the Coaches Poll.

Notre Dame’s next game is Oct. 26 at No. 16 Michigan, but the Wolverines travel to No. 7 Penn State this weekend.
