Upon Further Review: Breaking Down The Notre Dame Win Over USC
Notre Dame heads into the bye week with a lot of momentum and good vibes after its convincing 48-20 victory over rival USC. It was Notre Dame's first win of the season over a Top 10 team, and it knocked the Trojans from the ranks of the unbeatens.
Before we transition into what's next for Notre Dame we dove into the film and broke down the Irish victory. We talked about what went right (and it was a lot), what went wrong and we give our overall views of the game.

After briefly discussing the overall impact of the victory we broke down the performance of the Notre Dame offense.
We started with the run game, which was good enough against USC, although it wasn't dominant. During this portion of the show we discussed what Notre Dame did scheme wise, and what worked (and what didn't). We discussed the play of the offensive line and the running backs in the run game.
Next we broke down the pass game, which after breaking down the film was better than we thought watching it live. Notre Dame didn't do much in the pass game due to short fields and jumping out to a big lead early, but when they needed to put points on the board the pass game was where they went.
We broke down both touchdown passes, and what made them work. We also broke down the downfield pass from Sam Hartman to Rico Flores Jr. that set up a much-needed score that put distance between the two teams. We also showed what got Chris Tyree so open on his touchdown pass.
There was also talk about the aspects of the pass game that weren't as good, and the missed opportunities in the pass game.
During the defensive breakdown we spent a lot of time talking about how Notre Dame was able to be so disruptive against USC quarterback Caleb Williams. We broke down the interceptions, and showed how the front and the secondary combined together to cause him to have the worst game of his career.
