Alexander McPherson Sees Himself As A Good Fit For Notre Dame

2025 defensive end Alexander McPherson sees himself as a good fit after visiting the Notre Dame campus

The Notre Dame coaching and recruiting staff has been busy welcoming some big time recruits every weekend recently. That didn’t change over this past weekend, hosting several big time 2025 and 2026 recruits. One of the more intriguing visitors was Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy defensive lineman Alexander McPherson, who has experienced increased attention from a recruiting perspective recently.

The 6-4, 245-pound pass rusher went into the visit with high expectations. He had a high opinion of Notre Dame, and they did not disappoint.

"The visit was good overall,” McPherson told Irish Breakdown. "Two of my favorite parts were touring campus and watching practice. My opinion on Notre Dame coming out of the visit is extraordinary in terms of the campus and the football team and culture they carry. I see myself fitting in this program because it is run old school and just is hard grit football.”

For a player who does not currently hold an offer from the Irish, the staff was really selling his fit with the program. There’s no telling where things go with McPherson, but clearly they are doing their homework on the IMG edge defender. He was impressed by the pitch, and more than anything, the people.

“The staff sees me fitting in the same as I think, especially because of my high motor,” McPherson explained. “We believe in the same things when it comes to how to play the game. The conversations were great between all the coaches I spoke with and the players I spoke with as well. They all seemed like great people."

The 2025 defensive line class is almost finalized for Notre Dame. Despite that, they are still very much doing their homework on some talented players in the class. McPherson is included in that search, appearing to be a player who can really make a massive riser as a senior.

McPherson has been gaining a ton of traction on the recruiting trail this offseason so far. He currently holds offers from Oklahoma State, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Indiana, USF, Western Kentucky, James Madison, UNLV, Ohio, FAU, FIU, Bowling Green, Florida A&M, Akron and Dartmouth.
