Elite Safety JaDon Blair Has An "Amazing" Notre Dame Visit
Notre Dame already holds commitments from a pair of outstanding safeties in the 2025 recruiting class, including Florida star Ivan Taylor and Connecticut standout Ethan Long. Despite such an impressive duo, the Irish staff has continued to heavily pursue Winston Salem (N.C.) Mount Tabor star JaDon Blair.
Blair has been and remains a must-get recruit for the Notre Dame coaching staff. On Saturday, Blair made the trip back to South Bend for the third time. With an official visit already set for June 11-13, setting the tone down the stretch was huge for the Irish. They seem to have taken the necessary steps to try and close down the stretch.
"The visit overall was amazing and the time that I got to spend one-on-one time with the coaches, and what I got to learn while being up there was extremely helpful,” Blair told Irish Breakdown. "It definitely opened my eyes again about Notre Dame.
A key for Notre Dame was helping Blair get comfortable with the new-look staff. When Blair first began as a priority Irish recruit he was being courted by Chris O'Leary, but he is now off to the NFL. Mike Mickens is now the coach of the entire secondary, and it was important that Blair connect with him and defensive coordinator Al Golden.
"I got to spend most of my time with Coach Mickens and Al Golden, and every moment I got to spend with them was great,” he continued. "They made It known to me that I could be that player in their program to play everywhere on the field, just like Kyle Hamilton did and that I’m such a versatile player I could play many positions on the field. Coach Al Golden taught me some really helpful things while playing football and what to remember, and Coach Mickens was a great teacher and someone I loved to be around outside of football as well.”
Blair is an extremely talented player with an extremely high upside. He also fits the kind of student-athlete that Notre Dame covets on and off the field. But at the end of the day, the football fit has to make sense for Blair, and he liked what he saw from the Irish defense on Saturday.
"After being there this time I saw what they were all talking about now and how I could fit into their system,” Blair explained. "Also, the way the players carry themselves to be the best and compete in practice showed a lot, and each coach was tuned in and laser focused into every single detail.”
Make no mistake about it, Notre Dame is going to figure heavily during the final decision. Leaving the visit, the Irish definitely seemed like they made a strong move.
"Notre Dame will be one of those schools that I am considering the most and each time I go up there they continue to rise for me personally,” he explained. "The way Coach (Marcus) Freeman sees the future and the direction Notre Dame is heading, it’s going to be an extremely great thing. Notre Dame impressed me the most definitely this time just because of what I learned and the things they showed me with life after football.”
During his dominant junior campaign for Mount Tabor, Blair made a ton of plays from his safety position. Blair finished with 57 total tackles, three tackles for loss, four interceptions, one forced fumble and another fumble recovery.
The 6-4, 180-pound athlete was also utilized on the offensive side of the football for the Spartans. He hauled in 10 receptions for 255 yards and six touchdowns. That’s a stellar average of 25.5 yards per catch.
Blair is considered a consensus four-star recruit by every major recruiting platform. He ranks highest on the On3 ranking, currently sitting as the No. 43 overall player and No. 2 safety in the 2025 recruiting class.
