Notre Dame made Wisconsin blocker Owen Strebig a top priority from the outset of recruiting the 2025 class. Landing him was a huge pickup for the Irish in the class and he serves as a foundation for what is a strong offensive line class. Let's take a look at the recruiting profile for Strebig.

NOTRE DAME FIT

Notre Dame wanted some pure tackles in the 2025 class and Strebig is certainly that. Yes, his body fits the tackle position at 6-8 and 295 pounds, but more importantly his game fits it well. Strebig is very long, he's an easy mover and he looks comfortable in space, all traits you want in an offensive tackle, especially a left tackle. He has the ability to block like a left tackle and run block like a dominant right tackle, and he's just scratching the surface of his potential.

FILM ANALYSIS

Strebig certainly fits the mold of an edge player. As I mentioned already he's not only tall, but he's quite long from an arm length and wingspan standpoint. You won't have to question his ability to use his length to win on the edge and get to speed rushers, and as he learns to better use his length it will become one of his best weapons.

The Wisconsin native is already listed at 295 pounds, but for lack of a better way of putting this, he's not really fat. Strebig is just big, and he still has plenty of room to actually reshape his body and add really good weight. He is still young and has a young body, so I could see Strebig eventually being a good-looking 320+ pounds at the next level. I won't be at all surprised if he ends up as a 6-8, 325-pound tackle that can move.

Athletically is where Strebig presents some intriguing skills. He appears to still be growing into his massive frame a bit, and at times that can lead to some awkward moments. He's also a young player from a development standpoint, and even though he plays in a strong high school program, his game still needs a lot of work. As he stops growing and starts fill out, and continues to enhance his overall technique, his game should explode.

Strebig bends well for such a tall and young player, but that's the one area where I want to see him continue to work. He shows the ability to bend his knees well, but he'll lunge at times in the run game. When he drives his hips through blocks he can dominate people, and as he does that more and more he'll become an even more dominant run defender. His ease in space, nimble athleticism and length all project well for him to thrive as a space player at the next level.
