Notre Dame Checks All The Boxes For 2024 Safety Kennedy Urlacher
It has been a busy couple of months for Chandler (Ariz.) High School safety Kennedy Urlacher, who is making the rounds on the recruiting trail to visit several notable programs. Over the weekend, Urlacher made his first visit to Notre Dame, which was a highly anticipated one for some time now.
The Irish staff went into the visit as the assumed favorite for the Arizona star, whose last name should sound very familiar. That last name brings a lot of expectations with him being the son of former Chicago Bears Hall of Fame linebacker Brian Urlacher, who Notre Dame fans should remember quite well.
This initial visit was a successful one for Urlacher, who got every vantage point he needed from what the school and program could provide.
"The players and coaches were all great,” Urlacher told Irish Breakdown. "They seemed to have good relationships with one another, which was awesome to see. They’re like a big family over there.
"The staff definitely made me feel like a priority, which they have all along,” he continued. "They think that I would be a great fit into the program from every perspective.”
At Notre Dame, it isn’t just about what happens on the field every Saturday. From the football, academics, alumni connections and everything in between, the staff emphasized how unique it is. That message was well received by the Urlacher family.
"The main message from the staff was that Notre Dame is bigger than football,” Urlacher said. "I feel like I would fit well into the defense and as a person in general.”
His family has also been heavily involved in his recruitment, assisting him in the process and going along for the trips. It has been a busy few months, including stops in South Bend, Kansas, Kansas State and Miami. This particular trip seemed to stand out to his family that came with him on the trip.
"My family loved the campus and all the coaches as well,” he explained. "They are definitely high on the program. They think I would be a great fit there.”
Urlacher still has a couple visits he is planning on taking but it continues to be hard not to love where Notre Dame is in this recruitment. The plan, as of now, is still to make a college decision before his senior season begins, but could happen anytime.
After this visit the Irish have put themselves in a great position with the Arizona star.
Urlacher has quickly risen on the recruiting trails after a slow start to his process. The 6-1, 180-pound defensive back has seen his offer list quickly expand. Some of the premier programs who have offered include the Fighting Irish, Miami, Penn State, TCU, Nebraska, Washington, Iowa, Kansas State, Arizona State, Arizona, Cal, Stanford and Kansas among others.
