Kennedy Urlacher Is Set For First Trip To Notre Dame

Talented 2024 safety target Kennedy Urlacher previews upcoming trip to Notre Dame

Safety recruiting remains a very important position for Notre Dame in the 2024 class, and the Irish will host one of its top targets at the position this week. Notre Dame is eyeing a short list of very talented playmakers in the back end, including Chandler (Ariz.) High School safety Kennedy Urlacher, who is a player the Irish staff likes a lot.

Urlacher is a player that comes with a lot of expectations just based on his last name. He is the son of former Chicago Bears All-Pro linebacker Brian Urlacher, who Notre Dame fans should remember quite well.

Going into this visit, it’s hard not to feel very good about Notre Dame’s standing with the Arizona native.

"I expect Notre Dame to be one of my top schools for sure, and I’m excited to see all the coaches and facilities,” Urlacher told Irish Breakdown. "I think I fit well into the Notre Dame program and that the relationships I’ve made with coaches over there have been great so far.”

So far this off-season, the Urlacher family has been out and about on various recruiting trips. While things seem to already be winding down, this visit to South Bend offers a big opportunity for the Irish staff to potentially close on Urlacher, who is enjoying this process so far.

"Recruiting has been awesome!” he said. "I’ve visited Miami, Kansas and Kansas State so far. I will also be visiting .... TCU as well. It’s been a great experience.

"I’d like to make a commitment before my senior season,” he continued. "That’s the plan right now. When I know, I’ll know.”

It isn’t unrealistic to believe that Urlacher might “know” following this upcoming visit. Notre Dame has put themselves in a tremendous position. It’s time to close.

Urlacher has quickly risen on the recruiting trails after a slow start to his process. The 6-1, 180-pound defensive back has seen his offer list quickly expand. Some of the premier programs who have offered include the Fighting Irish, Miami, Penn State, TCU, Nebraska, Washington, Iowa, Kansas State, Arizona State, Arizona, Cal, Stanford and Kansas among others.
