Cornerback Cree Thomas Could Grow A Pipeline For Notre Dame

Star Arizona defensive back Cree Thomas goes in depth about recent offer from Notre Dame

Notre Dame struck gold in the 2022 recruiting class when they signed Phoenix (Ariz.) Brophy College Prep defensive back Benjamin Morrison, who was selected as a Freshman All-American this season after leading the Irish squad with six interceptions. The staff once again has their eye on Brophy, recently offering 2025 standout cornerback Cree Thomas during the Pot of Gold offer event on Friday.

Despite being three years apart, Thomas has a relationship with Morrison. Seeing him accomplish what he did with Notre Dame this season was pretty eye popping, adding to the intrigue of the Irish program.

“The moment I got offered I was just extremely excited,” Thomas explained. “Coach (Mike) Mickens extended me the offer and sees me as a potential difference maker at cornerback. I’ve always had a super big interest in Notre Dame just because of the culture built in with the program.

“Also seeing someone I look up to in Ben Morrison commit there and make the impact he made his freshman year really catches my eye,” Thomas added.

The offer had a tremendous impact on Thomas, as did the event in general. It adds to the uniqueness of what makes Notre Dame special.

“I think that the Notre Dame Pot of Gold day event is super cool,” he said. “It’s fun to see all the great athletes receiving offers from the fighting Irish on St Patrick's day!”

That is just another step in an exciting recruiting process so far. Thomas is taking everything in stride, enjoying every step and seeing where it all goes from here.

“My recruitment process has been very fun and blessed,” Thomas stated. “I’m excited to see where it takes me in the next 2 years!”

The Arizona native has quickly attracted the attention of several prominent PAC 12 schools, including holding offers from Oregon, Arizona State, Arizona and Cal. Thomas also holds offers from the Fighting Irish and Purdue among others.

The 6-1, 170-pound cornerback is coming off of a outstanding sophomore campaign for Brophy College Prep. Thomas locked down one of the cornerback positions, finishing the season with 33 total tackles, one interception and six pass breakups. He also added in 1.5 tackles for loss and a half of a sack, while also being the team’s main kick and punt returner.
