2025 Defender Anthony Sacca Had A "Blast" During Notre Dame Visit
It was a busy weekend for the Notre Dame staff. On top of the team competing in the Blue-Gold Game, several talented recruits also made the travels to campus. One of the more impressive players on campus was Philadelphia (Pa.) St. Joseph’s defender Anthony Sacca, who is one of the more versatile athletes in the 2025 recruiting class.
From watching the game, sitting down with the coaches and experiencing it all with his family, Sacca leaves with a tremendous experience. In an off-season of a lot of traveling, Notre Dame really stood out.
"The visit was great,” Sacca told Irish Breakdown. "I had a blast. It was really cool to get to see the teams compete today. It gives everyone a chance for a preview of the players for the season. It’s exciting.”
Outside of seeing the team play, Sacca’s conversations with the coaching staff was the big highlight. That included Al Golden, who was a teammate of his father Tony Sacca at Penn State.
"He’s a great dude,” Sacca said. "Him and my dad were friends back in college and we had a great conversation. He’s very down to Earth and easy to talk to. It was really good to finally sit down with most of the coaches, I really enjoyed it.”
Sacca didn’t get the chance to bring his father with him on this particular trip. Instead, his aunt and grandfather came with him. They also left impressed with what they saw.
"They had a great experience,” he said. "It was really cool considering they don’t really know anything about football. They were impressed.”
Getting an early visit from one of the more talented defenders in the 2025 class was a great step for the Irish staff. The talented linebacker is the type of impact defender that the Notre Dame staff is prioritizing.
Sacca is considered as a four-star recruit by both On3 and Rivals, with Rivals ranking him as the nation's No. 59 overall player, No. 6 linebacker and No. 2 player in the state of Pennsylvania.
The 6-3, 225-pound defender currently holds an impressive offer list, rivaling any recruit in the class. Some of the notable programs who have extended offers include the Irish, Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Miami, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Kentucky, South Carolina, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech and Rutgers among others.
The Pennsylvania standout is coming off of a standout sophomore campaign for St. Joseph’s Prep, who finished 12-1 with a state championship. Despite boasting an impressive combination of size and length, Sacca played on the back end at safety for the team. He ended the year with 49 total tackles, one interception, a forced fumble and another fumble recovery.
