Star 2025 Defensive Tackle Jarquez Carter Excited To See Notre Dame
Notre Dame has already made a big impact in the state of Florida in the 2025 recruiting class, receiving an early commitment from standout defensive tackle Davion Dixon of Miami Palmetto. Notre Dame is looking at another talented 2025 defensive tackle from the Sunshine State in Newberry (Fla.) High School standout Jarquez Carter. Carter is set to visit Notre Dame at the end of the month, and he's excited to see what the Fighting Irish have to offer.
Dixon actually is a big reason for Carter wanting to visit. That Florida connection has been big, with Dixon answering any questions Carter has and giving another perspective.
"I know Davion (Dixon),” Carter told Irish Breakdown. "He’s been talking to me about Notre Dame, he speaks really high of them. I’m excited to see everything.”
Behind the scenes, Notre Dame has done a good job to connect with Carter. There is little question that they have made a tremendous impact on the Florida native early on.
"I’m mostly excited to see Coach (Al) Washington and the rest of the coaching staff,” he explained. "We have been developing a really good relationship. They seem to really like me. Notre Dame is one of the top schools I’m looking at. It’s a great school and a great program, they bring a lot to the table.”
Notre Dame sees Carter as a playmaker from the interior. He brings an intriguing athletic profile to affect the game in a variety of ways. Carter is exactly the type of penetrating presence that every team wants.
"(Notre Dame) thinks I’m one of the athletic guys that can move around the line,” Carter said. "They seem to really value the versatility I bring. I try to make an impact everywhere.”
The Irish staff has definitely taken a liking to Carter early on. This visit will go a long way to really showing just how much that fit could make sense.
Carter has begun gaining substantial interest from various colleges recently. Over the last couple of months, he has been offered by the Fighting Irish, Miami and Penn State. Along with his first UCF offer, and several other offers already, that list promises to expand in the very near future.
The 6-3, 275-pound defensive lineman was an absolute monster as a sophomore. He finished third on the Newberry squad with 78 total tackles, including 23 tackles for loss and 10 sacks. Carter also recorded eight quarterback hurries, three forced fumbles, two pass breakups and a blocked kick.
