DT Davion Dixon Commits To Notre Dame

Notre Dame kicked off its 2025 recruiting class with a commitment from Davion Dixon

Notre Dame has kicked off its 2025 recruiting class by landing a big time defensive tackle from the state of Florida, as Miami (Fla.) Belen Jesuit Prep standout Davion Dixon pledged to the Irish.

This is a big win for Marcus Freeman and defensive line coach Al Washington, who looks to continue beefing up the Irish defensive line. Notre Dame's lone defensive line commitment in the 2024 class is 6-3, 290-pound Owen Wafle, and now the Irish have landed Dixon, who is listed at 6-2 and 305 pounds.

Dixon committed to the Fighting Irish while on his first visit to campus. He is in town for the Notre Dame Blue-Gold Game, but the Irish staff has been on him for some time. Dixon was offered by Notre Dame in February, but this was his first trip back to campus since last June.

Notre Dame has done well in recent seasons to add much-needed length to the defensive, especially in the 2023 class. What that class lacked, however, was a lot of beef, with Devan Houston checking in as the largest player at 270 pounds. Houstan is the only player in that talented four-man class to project inside. Dixon lacks the length of those players, but he's thick and sturdy, projecting as a pure nose tackle in the Notre Dame defense.

Adding this kind of size and power profile is important, but Dixon is also a disruptive young defender. He registered 10.5 sacks as a sophomore for Belen Jesuit, showing impressive initial quickness and nimble footwork for such a young, massive prospect. Dixon is also credited with an absurd 33 tackles for loss, which shows his disruptive potential.

He is ranked as the nation's No. 185 overall player according to Rivals. Dixon had already received offers from Florida State, Florida, Penn State, Nebraska, Auburn, Pittsburgh, Louisville, Michigan State, West Virginia and Syracuse.
