Star Safety Jordan Young Recaps Notre Dame Visit
It has been a busy couple of weeks for 2025 Monroe (N.C.) High School athlete Jordan Young, who was offered during the Pot of Gold offer event last Friday. The offers keep rolling in, with Young making the trip to Notre Dame on Saturday for the first time.
Already considered one of the top athletes in the 2025 recruiting class, the Irish staff sees Young as an impact player from the safety position. The North Carolina product has garnered interest from some top programs; both on the offensive and defensive side of the football.
The 6-0, 165-pound play maker has already pulled in some impressive offers thus far. Some of the more notable programs who have extended offers includes the Fighting Irish, Penn State, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland, Virginia Tech, NC State, Wake Forest and Duke among others.
“The recruiting process is what I was waiting for for a long time,” Young told Irish Breakdown. “Once the offers started coming in, reality set in too. I’m thankful and grateful for the offers so far and getting to know all of the coaches.”
Despite such heavy interest, the Irish staff was able to get Young on campus quickly. This visit was a great first step to building that relationship with the North Carolina standout.
“The visit was pretty good,” Young stated. “Being able to meet the coaches face to face and touring the football facilities were all awesome.
“The coaches were all great,” he continued. “I felt like they really knew me and spoke to me honestly, which is refreshing.”
Heading into the event, Young had a clear list of criteria that he needed when selecting a prospective school. That list included a variety of things, including development as a person and football player.
“Some things I’m most interested in when selecting a school are the degrees offered, whether I would fit in there, the program's success rate, and the environment,” he explained. “Those things are all really important to me.”
This was just an initial visit but it feels like a big success between both sides. Notre Dame appears to check a lot of those boxes that Young holds so important.
Young is considered a four-star recruit by Rivals, the only major recruiting service who has graded him thus far. They currently have the North Carolina star pegged as the No. 195 overall player and No. 19 wide receiver in the 2025 recruiting class. Young is also rated as the No. 6 player in North Carolina.
Young is a two-way star for Monroe as both a safety and wide receiver. On the defensive side of the football, he is coming off of a dominant performance as a sophomore. He finished that campaign with 41 total tackles, eight interceptions and three pass breakups. Young returned those eight interceptions for 212 yards and scored a touchdown. The North Carolina standout also blocked two punts on the season.
On offense, Young was equally as impactful. He led the squad with 1,010 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns on just 52 receptions. That is an average of 19.4 yards per reception, once again illustrating his big play potential.
