Texas Wide Receiver Daylan McCutcheon Recaps His Notre Dame Visit

Standout 2025 pass catcher Daylan McCutcheon recaps first visit to Notre Dame

Notre Dame has made impacting the state of Texas on the recruiting trail a much bigger priority since Marcus Freeman took over. That included the 2023 recruiting class, where they signed four players from the Lone Star State, including three wide receivers in Braylon James, Jaden Greathouse and Kaleb Smith.

The staff already has their eyes set on a talented 2025 pass catcher from the state in Lucas (Texas) Lovejoy star wide receiver Daylan McCutcheon. The Texas native made his first trip to Notre Dame on Thursday, which was an incredible introduction into what makes the program so special.

"It was really cool talking to the coaches and incoming players,” McCutcheon said. "They were just telling me they’re glad to see me there and be able to experience Notre Dame.

"My favorite part of the trip was being able to see Notre Dame practice and see how Coach (Chansi) Stuckey coaches all of the wide receivers,” he continued. "I was very impressed with how they practiced. They would have an instant replay after every play which was really cool. I liked how fast paced it was and how there were no wasted reps.”

McCutcheon wasn’t the only one who was impressed by the visit. The talented pass catcher also had several family members join him on campus. It feels like a place where McCutcheon could thrive.

"My mom, dad, grandma and grandpa all came with me,” he said. "They loved the campus and they think that it would be a good opportunity for me to go there potentially.”

The McCutcheon family will spend the next couple of days in Indianapolis, where his 7-on-7 team is actually participating in a tournament this weekend. Not a bad couple days for McCutcheon, who leaves with a much deeper understanding of the Irish program.

The 6-0, 175-pound pass catcher is considered a four-star recruit and currently sits as the No. 96 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class according to Rivals. He is also the No. 118 overall player and No. 19 wide receiver in the class according to On3.

The Texas native has been amidst a lot of school visits this spring. Aside from his trip to Notre Dame on the 7th, he has also recently visited Oklahoma (3/25) and Arkansas (4/1). The day after the Notre Dame trip, McCutcheon will also check out Purdue (4/8). It promises to be a very busy couple of months for the talented pass catcher.
