Standout Tight End Nate Roberts Is Developing A Strong Early Bond With The Notre Dame Staff

Star 2025 Oklahoma tight end Nate Roberts goes in depth on recent Notre Dame offer

The Pot of Gold offer event is a cultivation of months of work, collaboration between the staff, and identification of which 2025 recruits could best help the Notre Dame program down the road. Among the talented players offered on Friday, Washington (Okla.) High School tight end Nate Roberts is a player that the Irish have been developing a relationship with for awhile.

Roberts wasn’t just building a rapport with one coach. It turns out that this has been a full staff recruitment so far.

“I had gotten to know Coach (Gino) Guidugli previously, so there was familiarity there, which led to me building a relationship with Coach (Gerad) Parker, who is great,” Roberts explained. “Coach Parker was then elevated to offensive coordinator on top of being tight end coach, which means a lot as a tight end.

“It wasn’t too long after that I was on a call with Coach (Marcus) Freeman when he made the offer,” he continued. “My family and I were very excited. Notre Dame is a program with a great tradition and culture, and I love what Coach Freeman is bringing!”

Roberts understands how fortunate he is to have this opportunity. The Got of Gold is a unique event, built to highlight some of the more talented recruits on the board for Notre Dame. It’s an event that he is extremely proud to be a part of.

“I really like The Pot of Gold approach,” Roberts explained. “It has been fun, and I’m really glad that I get to be a part of it.”

The Oklahoma native is currently rated as a four-star recruit by Rivals. On that particular ranking, Roberts sits as the No. 160 overall player and No. 5 tight end in the 2025 recruiting class. He is also ranked as the No. 3 player in the state of Oklahoma for his class.

Roberts has secured a flurry of impressive offers so far. Some of the notable offers who have extended offers include the Fighting Irish, Georgia, Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee, TCU, Arkansas, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Missouri, Texas Tech and Kansas among others.

The 6-4, 225-pound tight end was a dynamic pass catcher as a sophomore. Roberts would explode for 705 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns on just 33 receptions, averaging 21.3 yards per reception. His explosiveness was put on full display after the catch with 324 yards.

Notre Dame ended up extending offers to eight different tight ends. It is an extremely talented board early, with Roberts being a big part of that.
