Alabama Pass Rusher CJ May Commits To Notre Dame

Dynamic 2025 pass rusher CJ May opts for the Irish during his recent visit for the Ohio State game

Despite a gut wrenching 17-14 loss to Ohio State on Saturday, the Notre Dame staff made waves on the recruiting trail. That includes landing a big commitment from 2025 Highland Home (Ala.) High School defensive end CJ May.

This was May’s second trip to campus and came into the visit with high expectations. The environment and future of the program was enough to accelerate his decision making process, which he was originally planning on waiting until after the season.

May becomes the fifth commitment in the 2025 recruiting class, and the first edge rusher. Getting him out of the state of Alabama is huge.

The 6-4, 225-pound pass rusher has already garnered interest from some premier programs in college football. May currently holds offers from the Irish, Georgia, Clemson, Miami, Penn State, Tennessee, Auburn, Ole Miss, Arkansas, South Carolina, Duke, Louisville, Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt among others.

May is considered a four-star recruit both on the 247Sports and On3 Industry rankings. The former has him the highest, currently pegging the Alabama native as the No. 171 overall player and No. 18 edge defender in the 2025 recruiting class.

As a sophomore, May put together a quality season for Highland Home. He registered 50 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.

Through four games as a junior, May has collected 16 total tackles, two tackles for loss and two sacks. He has also broken up three passes so far.
