Notre Dame Commit Cam Williams Enjoys Yet Another Return Trip To South Bend

Elite 2024 wide receiver Cam Williams recaps return visit to Notre Dame for the USC game

When Notre Dame received a commitment from 2024 Glen Ellyn (Ill.) Glenbard South wide receiver Cam Williams in June of last year, it was viewed as a strong get for the Irish. The importance of that pickup grew during his junior season, when Williams racked up 1,022 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns on just 47 receptions, a not too shabby 21.7 yard per catch average. Williams also scored another touchdown on the ground and returned two more interceptions for scores.

Williams is now considered a borderline five-star player and one of the elite wide receivers in the 2024 class. In fact, he was recently named a five-star on the On3 Industry ranking, sitting as the No. 27 overall player and No.8 wide receiver in the 2024 recruiting class.

From the second Williams committed to the Irish, he became the ring leader for another potentially outstanding recruiting close under Marcus Freeman. Over the weekend, Williams made the trip back to campus for their battle against USC.

“The visit was good,” Williams told Irish Breakdown. “It was really good when you consider the win.

“We even got a chance to rush the field afterwards,” he continued. “It was just a really cool and exciting environment.”

Williams credited the Irish fans with making it such an electric atmosphere. They really came and showed the team, and the commits on campus a lot of love.

“We have the best fans out there,” said Williams. “The energy throughout the game was just unmatched. It was awesome.”

With Williams having been committed to Notre Dame for well over a year, he is as solid as they come. In just a couple more months, he will officially become a part of the program. He’s beyond excited.

“Everything has been going really well with the staff,” he explained. “Those guys make me feel at home every time I’m back on campus. I think the group looks really good right now. We’re just excited to get on campus finally and make an impact.”

Notre Dame now sits with 23 commits in the 2024 recruiting class. They currently sit as the No. eight overall class in the 247Sports Composite ranking. The staff is still busy trying to flip a couple players, as well as continuing to monitor some others. For the most part, the group is close to finalizing with a ton of upside to get really excited about.
