FILM ANALYSIS
Cornerbacks coach Mike Mickens has a very long track record of finding and developing long cornerbacks, and it goes all the way back to his days at Bowling Green and then Cincinnati. Moore certainly fits that mold, possessing both elite height (6-2) and length. Despite being on the thin side, Moore is a willing and effective tackler. As he gets more weight room strength his ability against the run and perimeter screen game will be outstanding.
Moore is a flexible and smooth athlete that changes direction with ease. His ability to plant and drive downhill is outstanding. The manner in which he is used can mask this at times, but you can see it when he's working downhill and you can see it in the return game. His speed is good at this point, but that is an area where he could look to improve, something I do expect to happen as his body matures and he gets into a college weight room.
You want a cornerback with a track of making a lot of plays on the football, and Moore certainly shows that on film. He uses his length to make a lot of plays, but Moore is also a very high football IQ player. His reads are outstanding for such a young player, which combines with his length and range to allow Moore to get his hands on a lot of football. He isn't allowed to do it much, but Moore shows easy change of direction skills in press coverage and he shows good patience in press situations.
Moore isn't an overly efficient player from a footwork standpoint, which is something he'll need to clean up moving forward. It's certainly a correctable part of his game, and once he cleans that part of his game up and becomes more efficient his coverage skills and playmaking ability will take another jump.
NOTRE DAME FIT
Moore plays mostly off-man in high school, but he possesses all the traits needed to thrive in Notre Dame's man coverage defense. His range and tackling ability are great fits for the field cornerback position. His strength, instincts, ball skills and speed potential also fit very well into the boundary position. That ability to play both positions only adds to Moore''s fit at Notre Dame, and his importance in the class. I also wouldn't be shocked if at some point Moore fills out a bit and even gets a shot at safety if the cornerback spots are already filled. He's a corner, no doubt, but that flexibility only enhances him as a prospect.
