Notre Dame Continues To Impress Wide Receiver Daylan McCutcheon
It was a return visit for 2025 Lucas (Texas) Lovejoy standout Daylan McCutcheon during Notre Dame’s dominant 48-20 visit over the USC Trojans. This trip offered a unique perspective for McCutcheon, who had his first game day experience.
"The visit went great,” McCutcheon told Irish Breakdown. "I was able to see more of the facilities and campus this time. It was also awesome to be able to experience a Notre Dame college game live.
"The game atmosphere was crazy,” he continued. "It was a big win and the energy around the fans in the stadium was so exciting. It was great.”
Obviously the victory was the big highlight of the trip, however, the Notre Dame staff really built that relationship even further. They made the talented pass catcher, and his family, really feel valued.
"Being able to be around the Notre Dame coaches again was really nice. It was great to be able to reconnect with them,” McCutcheon explained. "Their main message to me was to stay focused on and off the field. They also would love for me to come back for another game.
"My family loved it,” he added. "The staff really made them feel at home and answered every question they had.”
Notre Dame is off to a fast start in the 2025 recruiting class. They are courting several talented pass catchers in the class, with McCutcheon being among the most talented.
McCutcheon has pulled in a series of impressive offers so far. Some of the notable programs who have extended offers include Notre Dame, Miami, Oklahoma, Penn State, Oregon, Texas A&M, Tennessee, South Carolina, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Baylor, West Virginia, Purdue and Cal among others.
The 6-0, 175-pound is considered a consensus four-star recruit by every major recruiting platform, ranking inside the top 200 players nationally. McCutcheon ranks highest by On3 and Rivals, who peg him as the No. 107 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class. McCutcheon also ranks as a top 25 player in the state of Texas on each ranking, a state that has become very important for the Notre Dame staff.
