Notre Dame Continues To Push For Dynamic Wide Receiver Derek Meadows
It is another deep and talented wide receiver group in the 2025 recruiting class nationally. Arguably one of the most physically gifted pass catchers in the class is Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman standout Derek Meadows. He has been a player that Notre Dame has been high on for some time now.
Bishop Gorman is coming off of a 12-0 undefeated season in 2023, with Meadows serving as a big play threat for the team. On 15 catches as a junior, he exploded for 391 yards and eight touchdowns. That is an impressive 26.1 yards per reception, showcasing his explosiveness at 6-5 and 185 pounds.
With Mike Brown taking over as the wide receiver coach for Notre Dame, the wide receiver board is going to be in a little bit of flux. Early indications are that Meadows is still very much a part of the plan and a player that the Irish staff wants.
"Everything has been going really good with Notre Dame,” Meadows told Irish Breakdown. "They came out to my high school a couple weeks ago and I have had the chance to speak with Coach Brown and he is a really cool guy. I look forward to building a relationship with him.”
Of course, Meadows is still in no rush. With coaching changes, that is probably a very good thing for the Irish. Patience is needed with Meadows, who doesn’t have a firm timeline currently.
"Recruiting has been going good lately and so far there have been no upcoming visits planned,” Meadows explained. "I’m sure that will change. I’m talking with my parents to try and figure out plans.
"I’m not in any rush to make a commitment,” he continued. "When the time comes it will happen. I want to make sure I make a good decision and don’t have to decommit because I made a quick decision.”
One thing is certain: Notre Dame has made a great early impact on the Las Vegas star. That could pay huge dividends down the stretch.
"I’m talking to several colleges right now,” said Meadows. "I’m just trying to get to know everybody, just enjoying the process and getting to know people. Obviously Notre Dame is in that top group. They have been for a while now.”
Meadows is currently rated as a consensus four-star player by every major recruiting platform. He ranks highest according to 247Sports, currently slotted as the No. 113 overall player and No. 12 wide receiver in the 2025 recruiting class. With Meadows’ insane athletic gifts, it should be no surprise that schools like Notre Dame, Washington, Utah, BYU, and Maryland have already offered him.
