Cornerback Elbert Hill Surprised By Notre Dame Offer
On Thursday, Notre Dame hosted several talented recruits on campus for an evaluation camp. One of the top performers at the event was 2026 Akron (Ohio) Archbishop Hoban cornerback Elbert Hill, who left the event with an official scholarship offer.
The Ohio native was focused early on his performance in front of the Notre Dame staff and coaches. Of course it parlayed into that offer being extended.
"My experience at Notre Dame was great,” Hill told Irish Breakdown. "They have a beautiful campus. I felt that I performed very well at Notre Dame. Getting the offer to cap it off was fantastic.
"I was sitting down with Coach (Marcus) Freeman and he surprised me with the offer,” he continued. "It made me feel very good that he said a lot of amazing things about me.”
Even though Hill is young, he has already been diving head first into the recruiting process. He has been hearing from a lot of impressive schools, including the recent offer from Notre Dame. The staff, and school, made a great early impression on him.
"My recruiting has been going great,” said Hill. "My interactions with Notre Dame were all great. It's a very beautiful campus and has great people around there.”
Despite just finishing up his sophomore year, Hill has already pulled in several impressive offers. Some of the notable programs who have offered him so far include Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan, Miami and Pittsburgh among others.
The 5-10, 160-pound cover man was a playmaker on the back end for an extremely talented 14-2 Archbishop Hoban squad. The team outscored their opponents by a 623 to 247 point margin. Their defense surrendered just 15.4 points per game on the season.
Irish Breakdown publisher Bryan Driskell was in attendance at camp and offered this evaluation of Hill on the Champions Lounge premium board:
"There was a 2026 cornerback in attendance that has some skill. That is Ohio corner Elbert Hill IV. I actually thought he was older, and when I realized he’s a freshman I was even more impressed. He’s still a little on the small side, but again, he’s young. His footwork/technique caused him to slip ... but that’s correctable. When he didn’t fall I saw a kid with really quick feet, loose hips and he’s very competitive. He battled older players all day and more than held his own. Definitely a kid to keep an eye on."
