Notre Dame Defensive Line Target Bryce Young Sets Decision Date

Star 2024 North Carolina defensive end Bryce Young Sets Commitment Date

Notre Dame got a big boost on the defensive line over the weekend when 2024 Hoschton (Ga.) Mill Creek defensive end Cole Mullins chose the Irish. He combines with New Jersey defensive tackle Owen Wafle to make a nice start to the 2024 defensive line class.

The Irish staff is hoping to receive more good news soon from 2024 Charlotte (N.C.) Christian defensive end Bryce Young, who has set a commitment date for Saturday, April 29th at 4 PM eastern time.

Young is a toolsy defender who is considered a four-star recruit by both On3 and Rivals. He peaks as the No. 236 overall player and No. 22 EDGE defender in the 2024 recruiting class according to the On3 ranking. Both rankings have him as the No. 8 player in North Carolina, a state they are having a higher impact in over the last two cycles.

The 6-5, 240-pound defender has been receiving interest from a flurry of notable programs. Some of his top offers include the Fighting Irish, USC, Michigan, Miami, Penn State, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Iowa, Maryland, Stanford, Cal, Virginia, Georgia Tech and Duke among others.

Young put together a dominant campaign as a junior. He finished second on the team with 92 total tackles, including six tackles for loss and three sacks. The North Carolina native also recorded 11 quarterback hurries and forced two fumbles.

He is fresh off a fantastic visit to Notre Dame this past weekend for the Blue-Gold Game. It also doesn’t hurt the program’s chances that he is the son of former Irish legend Bryant Young. The staff is riding a lot of momentum heading into the decision.
