Dynamic Pass Catcher Daylan McCutcheon Previews Notre Dame Return

Star 2025 Texas wide receiver Daylan McCutcheon set for return trip to Notre Dame against USC

Wide receiver recruiting for Notre Dame has really taken a massive step forward since Chansi Stuckey joined the staff. They continue to pursue some of the top pass catchers in the 2025 recruiting class, including Lucas (Texas) Lovejoy standout Daylan McCutcheon.

The Texas star is set to make his return trip to South Bend, visiting this weekend for their battle against USC. He originally made the initial visit back in April. McCutcheon hopes that his return gives him a deeper understanding of the program and hopes to get a new perspective this weekend.

"I’m really hoping to be able to get a lot of time with the coaching staff,” McCutcheon told Irish Breakdown. "I want to get to talk to them a ton and get to know them better. I’m also excited to see some of the campus stuff I wasn’t able to see last time like the dorms.”

From the moment the Irish staff extended an offer to McCutcheon, they have made him feel like a priority. He believes in the player he could develop into under the tutelage of the staff.

"My recruitment has been going really good," McCutcheon explained. "My relationship with Notre Dame gets stronger every day when chatting on the phone or texting.

"They are a really good program and if I go there, they would be a school that competes with the elite teams,” he continued. "They also would be able to help develop me and help me make it to the NFL.”

There doesn’t appear to be much rush for McCutcheon to make a decision. He is just enjoying the process, although he does have a semblance of a plan.

"I’m not totally sure when I’m going to make a commitment at the moment,” he said. "I do plan on dropping a top 11 schools list after all my visits. I’m probably going to commit somewhere in the summer.”

McCutcheon has pulled in a series of impressive offers so far. Some of the notable programs who have extended offers include Notre Dame, Miami, Oklahoma, Penn State, Oregon, Texas A&M, Tennessee, South Carolina, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Baylor, West Virginia, Purdue and Cal among others.

The 6-0, 175-pound pass catcher is considered a consensus four-star recruit and he ranks as the No. 100 player in the country on the On3 consensus rankings. McCutcheon also ranks as a top 25 player in the state of Texas on each ranking.

Notre Dame has early commitments from star quarterback Deuce Knight, running backs Daniel Anderson and Justin Thurman, defensive end Joseph Reiff, and defensive tackle Davion Dixon. The Irish have yet to land a wide receiver in the 2025 class.
