Dynamic Pass Catcher Koby Howard Recaps "Electric" Notre Dame Visit

Star 2025 wide receiver Koby Howard recaps return visit to Notre Dame

It wasn’t long ago that 2025 Davie (Fla.) Western star wide receiver Koby Howard was arguably the top freshman pass catcher in high school football. During that time, he was being courted by a long list of impressive programs, visiting a ton of places like Notre Dame.

Then a catastrophic leg injury cost him his sophomore season that put his recruitment on hold. On Saturday, Howard was back in South Bend healthy and optimistic. The atmosphere around the 48-20 victory over USC really impressed the Florida star.

"The atmosphere was super electric,” Howard told Irish Breakdown. "It was better than I thought it would be. That defense was stifling tonight.

"Coach (Chansi) Stuckey apologized to me about the wide outs not having a big day tonight,” Howard continued. "He said they will make it up to me on my next visit. I have plans on coming back at some point. I want to see them young cubs eat!”

The Irish staff really showed their hospitality to the Howard family. Saying they impressed would be a massive understatement, which the star runner appreciated big time.

"Notre Dame really showed me and my family a great time,” Howard explained. "It ranks at the top of my list of schools I visited so far in terms of hospitality and game day visit. I really would like to return in the near future. Of course it depends on whether my parents could afford another trip but I would love to do it again for sure.”

There was member of Howard’s family that was especially high on the visit. It appears Notre Dame has a massive alley.

"My family was really impressed with everything, especially my mom,” he stated. "She can’t stop talking about how much she loves Notre Dame.

"If it wasn’t so cold she might have wanted me to commit last night,” he added. "I have to admit that weather is going to take some getting used to if I were to decide to make that move up to Notre Dame.”

Howard is considered a four-star recruit according to the On3 Industry ranking. He is currently pegged as the No. 287 overall player and No. 44 wide receiver in the 2025 recruiting class.

Some impressive schools have already extended offers to Howard. Some of the premier ones include Notre Dame, Georgia, LSU, Florida, Miami, Tennessee, Florida State, Penn State, Texas A&M, Auburn, Arkansas, Kentucky, Pittsburgh, Colorado, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Georgia Tech among others.

A preseason injury cost Howard his entire sophomore season. That was especially a bummer after coming off a standout freshman campaign, hauling in 70 receptions for 808 yards and eight touchdowns. Howard also was involved on special teams as a punt and kick returner for the team.

Howard has played in two games as a junior so far, collecting 17 receptions for 306 yards and two touchdowns. That includes a seven-catch, 120-yard and one touchdown performance against American Heritage two weeks ago.
