Dynamic Pass Catcher Talyn Taylor Finalizes Return Trip To Notre Dame
This weekend, Notre Dame is set to host Ohio State in a massive battle of Midwestern powers. The Irish staff is also planning on hosting several very important 2025 recruits, including star Geneva (Ill.) Community pass catcher Talyn Taylor.
The Illinois native has become an absolute priority for Notre Dame in the 2025 recruiting class. This will be a return trip for Taylor but a great opportunity to see the team in live action.
Taylor’s mother, Venus Taylor, verified the trip back to South Bend. She has spoken fondly of Notre Dame, their pitch and push for Talyn.
"The staff has continued to state that Talyn is a huge priority in their recruiting,” Ms. Taylor told Irish Breakdown. "They plan to use him in multiple ways as a receiver. In addition they are able to market several strengths from both an academic and athletic standpoint as well as a community with a strong alumni network and a faith based culture.”
While Taylor doesn’t plan on making a commitment until after his junior season and official visits, continuing to get him back to campus is huge. Notre Dame is in it for the long haul.
Taylor is currently rated as a four-star recruit and the No. 32 overall player and No. 7 wide receiver in the 2025 recruiting class according to Rivals. He is considered a consensus four-star recruit by every major recruiting platform. On3 also has him as a top 100 national recruit, currently sitting as the No. 63 overall player in the class.
The 6-1, 175-pound pass catcher is putting together a stellar offer list. Some of the notable programs to offer Taylor include Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, USC, Tennessee, Miami (Fla.), UCLA, Wisconsin, Utah, Nebraska, Michigan State, Iowa, Kansas State, Illinois, Louisville, Purdue, Kansas, Minnesota and Syracuse among others.
The Illinois standout is coming off of a dynamic sophomore campaign for Geneva County. He led the squad with 45 receptions for 801 yards and eight touchdowns in nine games. Taylor was also the teams main kick and punt returner, averaging 11.5 yards per punt return on the season.
Taylor has been even more dominant as a junior thus far. Through four games, he has hauled in 19 receptions for 358 yards and four touchdowns. He is also the team’s main kick and punt returner, although the opposition do their best to avoid him. Taylor has also added an interception on the defensive side of the football this season.
