On Monday night, Notre Dame special teams coordinator Marty Biagi made the trip up to see 2024 Westwood (Mass.) High School long snapper commit Joseph Vinci for a home visit. That visit centered around the family, and Biagi enjoying a delicious lasagna and meatball dinner and enjoying his time with the Vinci family.

With just over a week until National Signing Day, this visit was one of the last steps until Vinci signs on the dotted line and makes things official. It was a visit that was very appreciated, and everyone enjoyed it.

:It was great,” Vinci told Irish Breakdown. "It was definitely nice to see him before I head over in January and catch up. It was great for them to be around my family as well.”

Since Vinci committed to the Irish as a preferred walk-on back in September, he has been all in on the Notre Dame program. The Irish staff does not see Vinci as your typical walk-on. Specialist recruiting can be unique. They needed to push hard and make Vinci understand how special of a place South Bend is.

"I love the tradition and culture of Notre Dame as it is iconic and unique,” Vinci said. "Football is huge at Notre Dame, and the people over there are even better.”

With Michael Vinson leaving after this season, there is going to be an opportunity for a new long snapper to ascend to the starting spot. There’s no reason that can’t be Vinci, who is planning on coming in and being the best teammate possible.

"I know that I can bring a positive attitude and hard-working mindset to the team,” said Vinci. "Being a specialist your job is very specific and I have to be focused on doing the best job I can while being the best teammate possible.

The 6-4, 230-pound Vinci is considered arguably the top long snapper in the 2024 class. Rubio Long Snapping is one of the most trusted evaluators of specialists. They rank Vinci as a five-star specialist on their scale, as well as being the No. 3 long snapper in the country, which makes getting Vinci as a walk-on even more impressive.
