Notre Dame Is In Great Early Standing with Offensive Tackle Will Black

Star 2025 offensive tackle Will Black updates recruitment and relationship with Notre Dame

When you talk about 2025 offensive line recruiting for Notre Dame, you have to include Wallingford (Conn.) Choate Rosemary Hall star offensive tackle Will Black. Since being offered this offseason, after a strong camp performance in front of the Notre Dame coaches, Black has quickly become a player the Irish staff is very high on.

Black continues to also be high on the Irish, amongst an impressive list of other programs. They have been an unquestioned standout for the Connecticut standout recently, keeping in consistent contact each and every week.

"Schools like Notre Dame, Michigan, South Carolina, Penn State, Alabama, Tennessee and Florida have really been standing out,” Black explained. "Notre Dame is definitely a school at the top of my list.

"My relationship with Notre Dame continues to grow,” he continued. "I call the coaches every week. They tell me that they love the way I play and that I would be a great fit for Notre Dame.”

The primary focus for Black has been on his team, and his season. That has limited his traveling this fall but he does have one particular trip finalized.

"I’m getting to know different coaches a lot better,” said Black. “I haven’t done a ton of traveling this season, but I’ll be visiting Michigan when they play Ohio State.”

With very little traveling this season, the plan is to once again hit the road after it has concluded. As you can imagine, that means that Black still has a lot of soul searching to do. He is in no rush, although he does have a tentative plan for when a decision may come.

"I should commit sometime in the spring or summer of 2024,” he explained. "I’m going to spend this offseason really narrowing things down.”

With Notre Dame in a great early position, they have a chance to close when the time comes. It is going to be about remaining patient and pushing the right buttons when the time comes.

The 6-7, 295-pound offensive tackle has already garnered interest from several big time programs. Some of Black’s top offers so far include the Fighting Irish, Alabama, Michigan, Miami, Penn State, Florida State, Florida, Tennessee, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Stanford, South Carolina, Maryland, Nebraska, Virginia Tech, Michigan State, Duke, Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Rutgers among others.

It is no surprise but Black’s recruiting rankings are beginning to match that impressive offer list. He is ranked as the No. 204 overall player and No. 14 offensive tackle in the 2025 recruiting class according to On3. Black is also rated as a four-star player on the On3 Industry ranking.

Choate Rosemary Hall boasted a tremendous offense for the 6-0 squad so far this season. As an offense, the team is averaging over 43 points per game, with Black’s efforts up front being a big reason for that.
