Linebacker Landon McComber Is "In Awe" During Trip To Notre Dame

Dynamic Las Vegas defender Landon McComber recaps first trip to Notre Dame

It has been a busy week for 2025 Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman defender Landon McComber. Last Friday, he was extended an offer by Notre Dame as a part of the Pot of Gold offer extravaganza.

Today, McComber and his family made its first trip to South Bend to meet with the coaches, tough the campus and really develop a deeper understanding for what makes Notre Dame special. That trip has not disappointed thus far.

“The campus is beautiful,” said McComber. “I was in awe of the sights and I had really great conversations with Coach (Marcus) Freeman and Coach (Al) Golden.

“We really just spoke mostly about life beyond football,” McComber continued. “Notre Dame is a unique place for a lot of different kinds of people. Everyone is smart in their own way.”

Those meetings with the coaches, which will continue tomorrow morning before the family makes its way back to Las Vegas, has been one of the biggest highlights for the talented linebacker. McComber had a chance to talk football and assess fit but the coaches made it very apparent that no matter the position, he is a special athlete and student of the game.

“We didn’t really go super in-depth about a position in the defense,” he stated. “We really just talked a lot about what I could potentially do with the football knowledge I have that will help me in the future.”

By all accounts, the McComber family has also thoroughly enjoyed the visit. No one should be surprised if a return trip South Bend becomes a part of the travel plans in the future.

“My family also loves it,” McComber said. “I can definitely see us making the trip back again in the future. It is a special place.”

McComber already boasts a long list of scholarship offers to his name. Some of the notable programs who have extended offers include Notre Dame, Georgia, Michigan, Oklahoma, USC, Tennessee, Colorado, Texas A&M, Michigan State, Boston College, Arizona and Cal among others.

The 6-2, 195-pound defender starred at Desert Pines High School as a sophomore. He transferred to Bishop Gorman this off-season to play on one of the better programs in the country.

As a sophomore in 2022, McComber finished second on the team with 65 total tackles in 11 games. He also recorded three tackles for loss, seven sacks and an interception.
