In the 2024 recruiting class, Notre Dame landed a very versatile player in Omaha (Neb.) Westside defender Teddy Rezac. The Irish staff has also secured a commitment from Teddy’s brother Anthony Rezac, who is coming in as a preferred walk-on quarterback.

For people that don’t follow high school football, Westside just put together one of the most dominant seasons in recent memory. The team finished with a 13-0 record, including a 49-0 state championship victory over Bellevue West. On the season, the Warriors outscored their opponents 643 to 46.

Obviously the Rezac brothers were a big part of that success. As was 2025 linebacker Christian Jones, who is a key target for Notre Dame in next year’s class. He is coming off of a dominant junior campaign.

“My junior season was very good,” Jones told Irish Breakdown. “I got involved with the offense a lot more but still got a lot of improvement to be done for the senior season. Obviously ending with a state championship was a great moment.”

During that season, the 6-3, 215-pound athlete finished with 69 total tackles, 14 tackles for loss, five pass breakups, two forced fumble and an interception. Jones also made a big impact on offense, hauling in 20 receptions for 548 yards and nine touchdowns.

Athletically, there aren’t many more impressive athletes in the 2025 recruiting class than Jones. He is also a standout track and field athlete, which really showcases his unique athletic profile. Jones is one of the top shot putters in the state of Nebraska, posting a personal best of 53’7”. That obviously demonstrates core strength and explosiveness but Jones also possesses great straight line speed, posting a time of 10.89 seconds in the 100 meter dash as a sophomore.

It shouldn’t be much of a surprise that Notre Dame is valuing Jones tremendously. Recruiting has been a little slow overall recently but the Irish are one program who are standing out early on.

“Recruiting has been a little slow just with everyone finishing up the 2024 class,” Jones explained. “As of right now, I have nothing set in stone on the calendar. We are still working on the logistics of everything.

“Notre Dame is for sure trending to the top of my list,” he continued. “I like a lot of what they are doing and what they did last season.”

There isn’t a concrete timeline for the Nebraska standout to make a decision. He is in no rush, instead wanting to make a sound decision. The next several months, including some famous visits, will be big for Jones.

“I still have no timeline of when I'll commit,” he said. “I am just letting everything come to me and not running toward anything. Making a great decision is very important for me.”

With Notre Dame’s impact in Westside in the 2024 class, it could potentially be a great help in trying to push and close on Jones. They have recruited the linebacker position at a high level of the last few years, and he could be the next big name to know in the 2025 class.
