Notre Dame Looking To Impress Talented Receiver Derek Meadows

Talented 2025 pass catcher Derek Meadows previews return trip to Notre Dame

Since camping at Notre Dame this offseason, 2025 Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman wide receiver Derek Meadows has quickly become a priority for the Irish staff. Long, explosive with massive upside, Meadows brings a skill set that is hard to ignore and even harder to find.

Meadows is set to return to South Bend this weekend, which will be his third trip to campus overall. Things have been trending very well between the talented pass catcher and Notre Dame over the last few months. This upcoming trip brings high expectations.

"I just know when I get there it's going to be great with my family,” Meadows told Irish Breakdown. "I just can’t wait to see all the coaches and staff there again.

"My relationship with Notre Dame is great,” he continued. "I love it and couldn’t ask for anything more than that. I feel so welcomed every time I talk to a coach or any person associated with Notre Dame.”

Of course Meadows is also excited to see this Irish team in action against the Pitt Panthers. The program has had their ups and down so far this season, but seem to be trending in a great direction. Considering Meadows comes from one of the outstanding programs in all of high school football, winning is very important to him.

"I think Notre Dame is looking great so far,” he said. "I know they had a tough loss against Ohio State but that doesn’t define them. They are a strong team and have great mentors to help them throughout the season. They are a top team for sure.”

While there isn’t an exact timeline to make a commitment, this one does seem to be heading down the stretch. It appears to be a Notre Dame versus Washington battle heading down the stretch, with the Irish hoping to close during this weekend.

"When the time comes it will come I don’t know when I will commit yet but just know Notre Dame is definitely high on my list,” Meadows said.

Meadows has gained a ton of traction on the recruiting trail this past offseason, and has extended into his junior year. So far he has earned scholarship offers from Notre Dame, Utah, Washington, Maryland, BYU, Nevada, Colorado State and Hawaii among others. His offer from the Irish came after Meadows’ performance at the Irish Invasion.

The 6-5, 185-pound pass catcher was seldom used as a sophomore, although you still saw the massive upside in those limited opportunities. In 2022, Meadows hauled in six receptions for 97 yards and two touchdowns.

So far as a junior, Meadows has made ten receptions for 250 yards and five touchdowns. That is an outstanding 25 yards per reception, showcasing his big time playmaking ability.

Meadows has also seen his recruiting rankings continue to rise over the last several months. The Nevada native now sits as a consensus four-star recruit. He ranks highest by 247Sports, currently sitting as the No. 71 overall player and No. 9 wide receiver in the 2025 recruiting class.
